Ted was my piano teacher for my first eight years in Henley (taking me on from a teacher who said I was hopeless... And now I have a PhD in music and continue to play piano in public) and Ann was always there with biscuits, and was always listening to what mattered. Ann and Ted took us on as more than just pupils, and we visited for marathon Box of Delights or Narnia viewings. Now I lecture students about how the social and the musical are bound together and this was modelled perfectly by how Ted and Ann supported me. Their contribution to my life is irreplaceable and unforgettable.
